The U.S. Department of Commerce, Foreign Trade Zones Board, this week approved an expansion to general purpose Foreign Trade Zone #94, in Laredo, Texas.
The area approved for expansion of the zone is the 830-acre Embarcadero Business Park, currently being developed by Midland, Texas based Fasken Ltd., at the intersection of IH-35 and Loop 20 in northwest Laredo. The development includes the most active bridge crossing for commercial traffic on the U.S./Mexico border.
Over the past 12 months, Embarcadero has been one of the most active industrial park developments in Laredo, with openings of three major distribution centers. These include new facilities of 101,000 square feet for Visteon Corp, 221,000 square feet for Expeditors International, and 202,000 square feet for ProTrans International. The two larger of these have each reserved additional land in the development for future expansion.
Grubb & Ellis-Best/White provided landlord representation on each of the recent transactions, and Zuniga Development, Inc. provided development services.
